Rapist Who Met Victims at Alhambra Cafe Sentenced

Andrew Bui will spend 30 years to life behind bars for assaulting two women.

A 27-year-old San Gabriel Valley man convicted of sexually assaulting two women he met at the Alhambra coffee shop where he worked was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison Thursday.

Prosecutors said Andrew Van Bui, 27, met his first victim in August 2013 at the Honey Badger Cafe, where he worked at the time. The two continued to stay in touch by social media, and eventually, the 26-year-old woman visited him at his Monterey Park home, where he drugged and raped her.

A week later, he met a second woman at the cafe, also continued to communicate with her via social media and invited her to his house. He attempted to drug her and sexually assaulted the 22-year-old victim.

He was arrested by the Monterey Park Police Department after the second victim reported the attack.

Bui was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
