Human Remains, Plane Parts Found in Search for 3 After Midair Collision Over San Pedro

Victim remains and plane parts were found in Southern California waters Sunday after a midair collision between two small planes launched a large-scale search Friday, according the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The search was still to continue Monday.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said that human remains and plane parts were found two miles outside of the LA and Long Beach Port in LA County waters around 2 p.m.

A dive team recovered wreckage of one plane, the Department said.

Some remains of two victims, along with the plane parts, were found in waters 105 feet deep.

Crews used sonar devices to search the ocean floor for wreckage, along with remotely operated underwater vehicles.
