Reward Offered to Solve Slaying of Teen in Carson

A reward was being offered Thursday night for information about the shooting of a teen who was gunned down on a corner in Carson.

Family members and police are hoping a $20,000 reward offered by the City of Carson will lead to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot and killed 18-year-old Justin Uy.

Uy was shot at the intersection of Dolores and 228th streets around 12:20 a.m. on April 13, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Deputies responded to a shots fired call in that area and discovered Uy down in the street, a sheriff's sergeant said.

Uy was hospitalized in critical condition before he died.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call sheriff's Detective Scott Rodriguez at 310-847-8319. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. All tips can be made anonymously.

Uy's family set up a fund online to help pay for costs. Anyone wishing to donate can do so here.
