Reward Offered in Boyle Heights Shooting of 10-Year-Old Girl

A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the drive-by shooting that wounded a 10-year-old girl in Boyle Heights, officials said.

The reward will be announced to the public at a Thursday afternoon news conference held at the LAPD's Hollenbeck Station.

On June 10, a 10-year-old girl named Alyn was walking to a nearby market with her sister when she was struck in the back of the head at about 6 p.m. near the intersection of Rogers Avenue and Chicago Street, Los Angeles police said. The girl was not the intended target.

A passenger in a vehicle opened fire on the intended victim, a man who was riding abike near the girls and who was not struck, police said.

Alyn was taken to a hospital where she underwent surgery. The bullet grazed her skull, authorities said.

Two weeks after the shooting, Alyn told NBC4 she did not remember the shooter's face, only the gray car the shooter was driving.

"All I just heard in my head was, 'beeeep' and I fell down," said Alyn. "They haven't caught the person, I'm afraid if they'll want to shoot me again."
