$10,000 Reward Offered to Help Find 4-Year-Old Girl

A $10,000 reward was being offered to help find a 4-year-old girl last seen over a year ago at a home in Oxnard.

Kimberly Irene Chavez, who has brown eyes and brown hair and weighs between 40 and 50 pounds, was last seen March 10, 2015, according to an Oxnard Police Department news release.

Someone called social workers this summer concerned about Kimberly's welfare. After repeated visits to the home, social workers couldn't determine where Kimberly was and notified police who launched a missing persons investigation.

Her parents, Omar Misael Lopez, 31, and Mayra Chavez Lopez, 25, were in custody on civil arrest warrants for failing to provide accurate information on the whereabouts of Kimberly, officials said. They have relatives in different cities in Mexico and investigators

said they traveled to Mexico several times since Kimberly was last seen.

"Mayra provided social workers with unverified information that Kimberly was living with relatives in Mexico," according to the Oxnard Police Department news release. "After numerous continued home visits, neither Omar nor Mayra was able to provide verifiable documentation or proof that Kimberly was living with relatives in Mexico."
