Riverside County residents affected by the deadly shooting in Las Vegas can meet with county mental health specialists at a trio of events across the county Wednesday.
The free events in Riverside, Lake Elsinore and Indio will offer support to anyone who attended the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival or knew a victim of the Oct. 1 shooting that took the lives of 58 concert goers and wounded around 500 others.
The events will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with clinical therapists conducting the meetings, providing "special intervention and resources to those impacted by the violence," according to a statement from the county's department of mental health.
Only those who attended the concert or knew someone injured or killed in the shooting will be admitted, county health officials said.
"These debriefings provide a special opportunity to share experiences, learn coping skills and access resources for additional support that might be needed down the road," said Steve Steinberg, director of RUHS Behavioral Health.
The events will be held at three clinics run by the Riverside County Department of Mental Health:
- Western Riverside County Region, Rustin Conference Center, 2085 Rustin Ave., Riverside;
- Mid Riverside County Region, Lake Elsinore Behavioral Health, 31764 Casino Drive, Ste. 300, Lake Elsinore;
- Desert Eastern Riverside County Region, Indio Mental Health Adult Services, 47825 Oasis St., Indio.
Those who are unable to attend the meetings may also receive support services by calling the Riverside County CARES line at (800) 706-7500.
