Deputies arrested a man and woman who allegedly robbed a shooting range in Azusa and then led authorities on a chase in a pickup truck to West Covina.

The chase ended shortly after 7 a.m. on the eastbound San Bernardino 10 Freeway east of Holt Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported.

Sheriff's Deputy Lillian Peck said the suspects were burglarizing the Burro Canyon Shooting Range, 22100 E. Fork Road, about 6:40 a.m. when an employee arrived and confronted them, and one or more suspects fired shots at the employee, who wasn't hurt.

The suspects fled with ammunition and firearm scopes, but did not get any firearms, Peck said.

Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker said the suspects, wearing ski masks, did not take firearms because they were locked away.

"Clearly, these people were desperate and dangerous,'' Parker said. The suspects fled onto surface streets, and eventually made their way to the eastbound 10 Freeway, where the truck got a flat tire, Parker said.

The truck stopped, and the pair surrendered. Their names were not immediately released. A rifle was found in the truck, Peck said.
