SF Cheese Fest: Tickets on Sale

Do you fondue? Does cheddar cheer ya? This mid-September snack-around may suit your creamiest hankerings.

A NUMBER OF FOOD FESTIVALS... cover a sizable swath of suppable items, from drinks to desserts to all of the rib-sticking, hearty-of-character dishes that land between those two beginning-and-ending categories. This means that, if you're in attendance, you're free to graze around, going with a confection first, if you so like, and working your way backwards to the appetizer course. However, if you find yourself focusing on just one type of tidbit — say, cheese — while skipping all of the other choices, there's only one course of action: To find a festival that's only made of cheese. Those do pop up, temptingly, from time to time, much like those festivals solely dedicated to beverages or chocolate or various fruits. And one of the tastiest of the cheesy one-dayers will break out the breads, meats, and knowledgeable mongers around the NorCal region just a few days ahead of autumn's start. It's the 3rd annual...

SF CHEESE FEST, and it will spread the tangy, creamy goodness at the historic Social Hall SF in, you got it, San Francisco. The theme for 2017? It's "Melting Together," which is meant to signify the chummy camaraderie of cheese-making honchos and cheese-eating lovers, both. You'll be able to nosh upon "dozens of new and classic California cheeses" from purveyors like Cowgirl Creamery, Sierra Nevada Cheese, Fiscalini Cheese, and Central Coast Creamery. And those appetizing additionals that enhance the art of consuming cheese, like charcuterie, preserves, and chocolates, will also be in the house, if you prefer to down your blues and Bries with something sweet and sharp alongside. Live jazzy sounds, the chance to sip wine, which is cheese's ultimate BFF, and other fest-y touches'll festoon the evening of Saturday, Sept. 16. Are you up on your Golden State jacks, cheddars, and goudas? Does every food fest in the world have too many other types of vittles but never, ever enough cheese? Here's where you're spending your last summer Saturday, then, committed cheesers of California. Tickets are on sale now.
