A popular San Francisco drag performer with a penchant for channeling Patsy Cline has died.
Arturo Galster, 55, died last week in a San Francisco hospital of unknown causes following an "incident" at Dolores Park that resulted in a head injury, according to The Advocate.
Details are scant, but no hate crime is suspected, according to the news source. His family described his death only as an "incident," and will hold a private memorial service in his hometown of Philadelphia.
Galster was hailed as a "drag pioneer" by the San Francisco Chronicle for his appearances as the country superstar, recorded on film as well as on the stage in clubs in Japan and in London.
Galster's renditions of Cline's work was captured in the 1999 film "Virtue," and took the act on the road with an outfit called the Memphis G-Spots, the newspaper reported.
The life of Arturo Galster will be celebrated Sept. 22 at the Castro Theatre.
