‘You Will Pay for It': Sister of Hit-And-Run Victim Asks Driver to Come Forward

At the intersection of Waterman Avenue and Fifth Street, there are candles in memory of Renail Pride. The 26-year-old was struck and killed Sunday night by a hit-and-run driver.

"I’m looking at the street right now where my baby sister was laying … how could you do that?" her sister Petra Pride asked.

Petra Pride came to the intersection Monday morning after the coroner stopped by her work to deliver the heartbreaking news of her sister’s death. She said her sister was the mother of two boys – 4-year-old Codell and 7-year-old Quinton.

"They’re going to get out of school today and find out that their mom is dead,"she said.

She has a message for the hit-and-run driver.

"You killed somebody … you killed somebody that had kids … that are not going to have a mother ever again in life."

CHP investigators say the crash happened just before 8 p.m. Sunday night as Renail Pride was crossing Waterman Avenue. She was not in a crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle heading northbound, investigators said.

"Regardless of how the collision happened the driver of the vehicle should have stopped, attempted to render aid, call 911 and get help out there," CHP Officer Brian Alvarez said.

Investigators are now collecting surveillance video. They’re hoping to identify the vehicle involved in the deadly hit-and-run.

Petra Pride is hoping the driver has a heart and comes forward to give her sister the justice she deserves.

"If you don't pay for it now, God will make you pay for it. You will pay for it … nobody gets away from God."
