LA’s San Fernando Valley has lost one of its greatest champions with the death of Kenny Gerston. The business and civic leader died Wednesday night at the age off 55.

According to his wife Kimberlee Gerston, he passed away one week after suffering a head injury during a fall.

“He was extraordinarily charitable.  He was loved more than he ever realized.” said Kimberlee.

Kenny Gerston’s list of accomplishments was extensive.  He served as Vice-President of the Circle of Care Foundation at Sherman Oaks Hospital and Vice-President of the Mid-Valley Community Police Council.  Gerston also helped found the BAD Ride--  Bikers Against Diabetes-- serving on the Board of the American Diabetes Association.

“He was just so vibrant and larger than life…. He lit up the room,” said Greater San Fernando Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO Nancy Vanyek.

Gerston owned the Sherman Oaks based company Ubiquitous and Alka Products, a Downey based purified water company.

His wife Kimberlee; son Lee, daughter Emily; brothers Randy and Bryan survive Gerston along with his parents Stanley and Sandra Gerston.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Beverly Garland Hotel in North Hollywood.
