Santa Ana Toddler Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances to Be Autopsied

Homicide detectives are investigating the case based on "suspicious circumstances" at the scene, police said

A two-year-old toddler who died in Santa Ana on Saturday morning under what police deemed suspicious circumstances will be autopsied Monday, police said.

The baby boy was pronounced dead at the scene after officers found him not breathing in a bedroom in the 2500 block of South Linda Way, according to officials with the Santa Ana Police Department. Police had been responding to a medical aid call at 1:45 a.m.

Homicide detectives are investigating the case based on suspicious circumstances at the scene, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told reporters. After the boy was found dead, a search warrant was obtained and served at the residence, he said.

Police questioned and released both parents pending further investigation. No arrests had been made as of Sunday afternoon.

The child's body was picked up by the coroner.
