Following the enactment of a "sanctuary" city ordinance, the city of Santa Ana has taken another step toward setting up a legal defense fund for immigrants facing deportation.
The city has ordered its staff to prepare a full proposal and budget to be voted on by the city council, NBC4's media partner KPCC reports.
The fund would allocate money to help low-income immigrants access lawyers to represent them in court.
