Man Allegedly Armed With Knife Fatally Shot by Santa Ana Police

A man who was allegedly armed with a knife died after he was shot by Santa Ana police early Friday, police said.

Officers responded to the 2400 block of South Olive Street around 3:45 a.m. for a domestic dispute call, and were confronted by a man with a knife, police said.

The shooting occurred just after 4 a.m., said Santa Ana police spokesman Anthony Bertagna. The man was struck multiple times.

The man was rushed to the hospital where he died from his wounds, police said. His family identified him as 22-year-old Yahir Brito, according to NBC4's sister station Telemundo 52.  

What happened between the time when the officers arrived and the shooting was still unclear, police said.

Investigators kept the neighborhood blocked off with crime tape more than seven hours after the shooting.
