Police on Sunday continued to search for a man who broke into a woman’s bedroom in South Pasadena while she slept and sexually assaulted her.
Officials added extra patrols as a precaution in the 600 block of Monterey Road as they followed leads and combed through evidence from the 3 a.m. Wednesday attack of the 18-year-old woman.
“We do not have any specific information to suggest the suspect may return,” South Pasadena police said in a statement.
But police believe the man either used to live in the area or frequented it.
The victim recounted her story to NBCLA on Saturday.
A man used a knife to cut through her bedroom window screen, she said.
"He was trying to take my clothes off and I was really confused and shocked,” the woman said. “I got my clothes back up and kept holding it really tight so he couldn't do anything.”
“When I started screaming he took my head to the other side of the bed and was shaking me, pulling my hair, and I couldn't breathe."
The woman's father heard the screams and burst into the room.
He managed to chase the attacker away even though the suspect was threatening both of them with a knife.
She says the attack has made her constantly fearful.
"I used to just walk home but now I never walk I always get picked up."
She didn't want to reveal her name or her face, but she did want to share what happened to try to make sure it wouldn't happen to anyone else.
Police were searching for a white male, between 5 foot 11 and 6 foot 1, 180 to 200 pounds, between 40 and 50-years-old, with brown eyes, and curly dark brown hair.
He had facial hair and was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the South Pasadena Police Department at (626) 403-7270.
