Gunman Sought After Baldwin Park Police Car Shot

The officer inside the vehicle was not injured.

Police were searching for a shooter who opened fire at a Baldwin Park patrol car Wednesday night.

A Baldwin Park police officer finished conducting a traffic stop before 9 p.m. in a Burger King parking lot at the corner of Ramona and Baldwin Park boulevards when the back window of the patrol car was blasted out by a bullet, police said.

The officer inside the vehicle was not injured.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting. It was also unknown where the shot came from or if the traffic stop was related to it.

The surrounding streets were shut down as a dozen police officers, two K-9 units and choppers overhead searched for the shooter, whose description was not immediately available. The search was called off after nearly four hours.
