Driver of Stolen Infiniti Sought by Authorities After Chain-Reaction Crash That Sent BMW Under Big Rig

Authorities on Friday have recovered the vehicle that was reported stolen and are looking for its reckless driver, who set off a chain-reaction crash that sent another car underneath a big rig on a Southern California freeway.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday on the westbound 10 Freeway in Colton near Pepper Avenue, according to Sgt. Brian King of the California Highway Patrol.

CHP authorities discovered the abandoned vehicle Friday morning in San Bernardino. It was reported stolen before the crash and was turned over as evidence as a part of the ongoing hit-and-run crash investigation, according to CHP San Bernardino.

Dashcam footage shows a gray Infiniti cutting off a BMW, nearly crashing into the back of a big rig and a green Mazda. The driver of the Infiniti sped off as the BMW swerves across lanes then under the big rig trailer.

"I was shaking a lot," Madis Tolentino, the driver of the BMW, said. "I just couldn't believe what was happening."

The video also shows people stopping on the freeway to aide Tolentino. She walked away from the crash with minor cuts and bruises. No one else was injured.

The crash was captured by Jose Rios, who installed a dash cam on his rear window to discourage drivers from tailgating him.

Witnesses and anyone with information on the drivers behind the wanted vehicles are encouraged to contact CHPSB at 909-383-4247.
