Security Guard Shoots, Kills Lancaster Adult Nightclub Patron: Detectives

The security guard at Snooky's in Lancaster was questioned after the fatal shooting

A security guard who shot and killed a patron Sunday night at an adult nightclub in Lancaster was questioned early Monday by investigators, according to sheriff's deputies.

Investigators were attempting to determine whether the shooting was justified, according to authorities.

The shooting at Snooky's in the 42000 block of Sierra Highway was reported at about 11 p.m. The patron was pronounced dead at the scene, and the security guard was detained for questioning.

"The security guard had a contact with the patron and assessed an immediate threat,'' said Lt. Richard Daniels.

Two men were asked to leave the establishment by licensed security guards, but one of the men returned with a shotgun, investigators told City News Service. The man pointed the gun at the security guard, who fired his weapon, investigators said.

The guard is cooperating with the investigation, Daniels said.

About 80 miles away in Harbor City, a 27-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday at the Fantasy Gold strip club. The gunman has eluded capture.
