Using promises of modeling as a ruse, a Southern California photographer is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy and a young man within the span of an hour, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
John Everett Perry, 34, is suspected of using a distinctive method to gain the trust of his alleged victims.
“He’s very approachable, friendly,” LAPD Detective Michelle Gomez said.
Police on Monday revealed for the first time details of the attacks, and urged more possible victims to come forward.
In the first instance, the 34-year-old allegedly asked a 15-year-old boy if he was interested in modeling. When the boy said yes, Perry lured the teen into his van and sexually assaulted him, LAPD Capt. Jeff Bert said.
That attack happened about 7:30 a.m. Sept. 24 in a Del Taco parking lot in Los Feliz, police said.
Some 45 minutes later and about a block away, Perry allegedly targeted his second victim at a Starbucks in the 2900 block of Los Feliz Boulevard.
Perry allegedly represented himself as a fashion photographer to lure a 25-year-old man into the coffee shop’s bathroom, where Perry allegedly sexually assaulted him, police said.
Perry was arrested the next day in Palm Springs. Detectives tracked him down by monitoring Perry’s social media accounts.
The 34-year-old suspect split his time between Los Angeles and Palm Springs.
Investigators believe there could be more victims in those places and others, including Orange County where tipsters say Perry frequented for his photography business, Bert said.
Perry is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 21.
