Sexual Predator Touches Young Girls in Broad Daylight at Arm's Length From Parents

"The brazenness of the suspect that could walk up in broad daylight and do this right next to their families is why we are so concerned," authorities said.

Police sought the public's help to identify a sexual predator who they believe inappropriately touched young girls at public places in broad daylight on multiple occasions.

In the middle of the afternoon on July 5, surveillance video captured a man who walked into a clothing store on South Los Angeles Street. In the video, he is seen casually approaching a 9-year-old girl and touching her on the behind. The young girl ran away as the man walked out of the store.

Days earlier, a man fitting the same description reached his hand between the legs of an 11-year-old girl in the children's section of the Los Angeles Library. The library is not far from the clothing store where the previous incident occurred.

In both cases, it was the middle of the day and parent or adult supervisors were only arm's lengths away.

"One feels like their child is going to be safe, and it's a safe environment," said Monica Bach, a mother. "So, I think as a parent we need to be a little bit more vigilant I suppose, but it still feels awful."

"The brazenness of the suspect that could walk up in broad daylight and do this right next to their families is why we are so concerned," LAPD Detective Garrett Breegle said. "We are asking for your help."

Police describe the man as black, 5 foot 9, between 30 and 40 years old, and weighing 155 pounds. He is said to have a large diamond stud earring in his left ear. The man appears to be "clean cut," but police do not know if he has a permanent home.

The Los Angeles Police Department has checked local shelters and homes to see if anyone recognizes the man, but have not had any luck.
