LAUSD School Offers Valet

A magnet school in Sherman Oaks is now offering a valet drop-off system.

The Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies, which is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, launched the program in February.

According to an LAUSD news release, "volunteers help guide parents to the 'valet lane,' where students are helped in and out of their parent/guardian's vehicle as through traffic continues to flow."

"The Valet Program is made up of parents and staff who are doing a wonderful job of keeping students safe at the busy intersection in front of our school," said SOCES principal Judith Anderson Hernandez.

Hernandez says the program has helped reduce traffic in the area. She credits the program to the school's psychologist, Dr. Michael Pobanz.

SOCES is the largest magnet school in the LAUSD, according to its website. The school has 2,100 students in grades 4-12.
