Shooting Reported Outside of Target in Norwalk

A shooting was reported outside of a Target store in Norwalk Friday morning.

Authorities received a call around 9:10 a.m. that a man had a gun, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

One person was shot in a parking lot outside of the Target located at 10600 Firestone Boulevard in Norwalk, said Deputy Sgt. Arnold of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department's Norwalk Station. No deputies were injured.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the person may have suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Deputy Grace Medrano of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The person was transported to a hospital. Deputies said they did not know the extent of that person's injuries.

A Target employee who works at the location said deputies told them to stay inside, and added they did not know what was going on outside.
