2 Injured in Shooting at Santa Ana Cemetery: Police

The men were "drinking beer and chilling" at a gravesite.

Two men were injured in a shooting at a Santa Ana cemetery on Sunday after police said they were "drinking beer and chilling" at a gravesite, police said.

The shooting occurred at Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary in the 1700 block of Fairhaven Avenue about 12:25 p.m., according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

A gray SUV rolled up to the gravesite, and a fight broke out between the victims and those in the truck, police said.

Amid the fight, someone fired a gun. One of the men was shot in his upper torso while the other was shot in his lower torso area.

Two victims were taken to the hospital, police said. They were not expected to die from the gunshot wounds.

"They are not cooperative with us, so we don't have much to go on," Santa Ana police Corporal Anthony Bertagna said.

Fairhaven Memorial Park was reopened later to those paying respects to fallen veterans.
