Lockdown Lifted at Hacienda Heights High School

A lockdown at a Hacienda Heights high school was lifted Monday afternoon after officials found no threat of a possible shooting planned on campus.

A student at Glen A. Wilson High School reported that a note threatening a shooting was found tucked in a text book, said Cynthia Parulan-Colfer, superintendent of the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District.

A photo circulating on campus of a handwritten note said: "School shooting going down at lunch on the 26th. Everything is in place," followed by a drawing of a smiling face.

The campus was placed on lock down at 9:22 a.m. The lock down ended just before 2 p.m.

"After a thorough search of the campus, it was determined that the students and faculty were safe and that there was no threat to the campus," the school said in a statement.

Sheriff’s deputies and canines began going from classroom to classroom looking for a potential shooter.

Parent Gabby Hernandez texted with her daughter, who took shelter under a desk.

Classes resumed when the lockdown ended, but many students left with their parents and told stories about how each classroom reacted.

"We played some games and tried to keep our mind off of it,” said student Mariah Ramirez. “We were relaxed in our classroom."
