An oil spill prompted a hazardous materials team response and a street closure Tuesday morning in Signal Hill.

The spill in the 2700 block of North Olive Avenue occurred at about 8 a.m. It was contained within 30 minutes, but authorities said some of the oil entered a storm drain and flowed onto a street.

Atlantic Avenue was closed between Willow and Spring streets. The road might remain closed for 24 hours, police said.

The spill just northeast of Long Beach occurred after a tank that receives crude oil from a high-pressure line overflowed, fire officials said.

It was not immediately clear how much oil spilled from the line.
