Two Simi Valley schools were locked down while police searched for three armed robbery suspects in the area. Two suspects have since been arrested in conjunction with the incident.

The Star Jewelry store in the 1900 block of Sequoia Ave was robbed around 10:38 a.m. and the suspects fled the scene in a white Lexus, according to the Simi Valley police department.

The store owner was beaten in the face and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The suspect's vehicle was later found in the 900 block of Appleton road near Crestview Elementary and Mountain View Elementary School.

Witnesses said the suspects, who were believed to be armed, fled on foot. Two suspects were later arrested but the third remained at large, said Sgt. Ritchie Lew.

Police placed both schools on lockdown as a precaution as well as Hillside Middle School. The lockdown was lifted around 5:30 p.m.
