Six Arrested, Over 5,000 Marijuana Plants Found in Inland Empire Drug Bust

A drug bust in Riverside County led to the arrest of an alleged marijuana ring, and the discovery of more than 5,000 mature marijuana plants, authorities said.

The Fontana Police Department Narcotics Unit served search warrants Wednesday in Menifee, Hemet, and Aguanga, and arrested six people suspected of being involved in marijuana cultivation, according to a news release from the Fontana Police Department.

Police arrested Eric Lai, Leo Bounnavongsor, Lom Phankomp, Kham Thavron, Jeremy Thavron, and Ray Robertson, according to the news release.

Authorities found nearly 1,500 mature marijuana plants at one of the locations and six firearms. They also found more than 3,700 mature marijuana plants and one handgun at another location, according to the news release.

The search warrants were based on an ongoing investigation that stemmed from a large seizure of marijuana in Fontana in October, according to the news release.

The Drug Enforcement Agency assisted with serving the search warrants, according to the news release.
