A 16-year-old girl was the target of an attempted kidnapping in San Jacinto Wednesday, police said.
The victim told police she was walking home from North Mountain High School around 12:15 p.m. when she noticed a newer, red compact car following her.
Near Sagecrest Drive and Chase Street, the vehicle stopped behind the victim. A man got out of the car, grabbed the teen and tried to carry her away.
When the girl screamed for help, the would-be kidnapper dropped her, ran back to the car and fled.
Another student in the area came to the victim’s aid and called 911.
The suspect is described as a man in his early 20s, around 6 feet tall and weighing 230 pounds. He has brown hair and was wearing thick black framed reading glasses at the time of the incident.
