Authorities in Riverside County say a skydiver's parachute deflated, sending him plunging about 100 feet to the ground and leaving him critically injured.
The Riverside County Fire Department says in a statement that the man was responsive when paramedics reached him after he hit the ground at Perris Valley Skydiving.
The diver, whose name was not released, was taken via ambulance to a hospital.
Last month three experienced divers were killed and another was critically injured in a pair of accidents at the same facility in Perris, a Southern California skydiving mecca.
