Small High School Surprised With Super Bowl Tickets

It’s a big win for a small town.

Boron High School, in Kern County, didn’t make it to the playoffs this season, but they’re headed to the Super Bowl next month in Arizona.

The football team and coaches won a nationwide, voting contest for free tickets to the big game, Feb. 1.

The Boron Bobcats are the smallest school playing football in California, yet a powerhouse in the Desert Mountain League. The team has won eight seasons in a row, until this year.

Now, they claim victory of another kind.

“We did it!!," tweeted head football coach Tim Seaman. “This is amazing!”

“Congrats to my high school football team. I used to play on the Boron Bobcats!” tweeted Danny Hendrix.

The team won an online voting contest, which asked schools across the country to share their football stories.

“Boron is a community that rallies behind its football program and to have it nationally recognized is something that will live within these kids forever,” said Jeff Lee, Boron High School alumnus.

The high school has roughly 150 students and is in the Mojave Desert, right next to Edwards Airforce Base.

While we don’t know which football teams will be playing in the Super Bowl, we do know Boron High School’s team will be there watching and showing their Bobcat Pride.
