‘So You Think You Can Dance' Winner Charged With Domestic Violence

The winner of the fourth season of the Fox reality- competition series "So You Think You Can Dance'' was charged Thursday with repeatedly attacking his girlfriend and violating a restraining order.

Joshua Demon Allen, 27, of North Hollywood, faces more than 10 years in prison if convicted of two felony counts of injuring a girlfriend after a prior conviction, one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, two misdemeanor counts of violating a domestic-relations criminal protective order and single misdemeanor counts of simple battery and vandalism under $400.

According to the District Attorney's Office, Allen was convicted in January of injuring his girlfriend after a protective order had been issued. He allegedly assaulted and choked the same woman on April 13 and again on June 19, when he allegedly chased her into a coffee shop, threw a glass vase at her, attacked a man who tried to intervene and vandalized the store, prosecutors said.

He was eventually subdued by good Samaritans in the store, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Allen, a Texas native, pleaded not guilty Thursday at the Airport Branch Courthouse, and his bail was set at $100,000. He is due back in court on Aug. 17.

Allen won the Fox series "So You Think You Can Dance'' in 2008, and also appeared in the 2010 Film "Step Up 3D'' and the 2011 remake of "Footloose.''
