SoCal Gas Prices Hit Low

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped to its lowest amount since Jan. 10 today, falling eight-tenths of a cent to $3.68.

The average price has decreased 49 of the past 50 days and is 4.7 cents less than one week ago, 19.4 cents lower than one month ago and 32.3 cents below one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price also dropped for the 49th time in the past 50 days, dropping 1.1 cents to $3.647, its lowest amount since Jan. 8.

The Orange County average price is 4.8 cents less than one week ago, 19.2 cents lower than one month ago and 29.7 cents below one year ago.

The decreases are the result of lower wholesale gasoline prices and Friday's shift to winter blend gasoline, which costs less to produce, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
