Some Mt. SAC Classes Canceled Due to Suspicious Container

Some classes near the theater and music building at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut were briefly canceled on Tuesday morning as a bomb squad investigated a suspicious container, school officials and police said.

Students were advised to stay away from threater and music buildings, 1A, 1B, 1C, 6, and the campus cafe, according to an alert posted on the school's website. Classes before 9:30 a.m. in those buildings were canceled.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies, which patrol the college, received a call at 6:57 a.m. at the school at 1100 N. Grand Ave., officials said.

A bomb squad removed the suspicious package and the area has been declared safe. No explosives were found, according to the sheriff's department.
