A teenager was arrested Sunday in connection with the fatal stabbing of his 50-year-old father in Pico Rivera a day earlier, sheriff’s officials said.
Another teen, identified as 18-year-old Jesus Adame, was also arrested, but officials did not say how he was connected to the case.
The son was not identified because he is a minor.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators had been searching for the 17-year-old boy after he took off in the family’s 2000 Infiniti at the time of the incident.
The stabbing took place at a home in the 3700 block of Oaklawn Lane. Responding deputies found the father suffering from wounds early Saturday morning. He was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.
A motive for the attack was unknown. Detectives said family members were inside the home at the time.
A woman who rents a room from the family told NBC4 she heard the homeowner screaming.
“I heard a man yelling in Spanish, ‘Me quiere matar,’ means ‘He wants to kill me,’” Mila Gutierrez said.
