Eviction Day at Multi-Unit House Moved to Saturday

Building lacked proper permits, according to city

The deadline for residents to move out of a South LA multi-family unit complex that did not have the proper permits has been pushed back to Saturday.

The last day was originally scheduled for Thursday.

The LA Housing Department approved the structure as a two-story, three-family unit dwelling; however, the building ended up housing more than 40 rooms across three stories.

The city deemed the complex not safe and residents were given 30 days to leave.

"It's a bother. If we would've known, we wouldn't have moved here. They never told us anything," said resident Jose Sanchez last month.

City officials agreed to help pay relocation fees for departing residents.
