Man Fatally Stabbed in Hollywood Parking Lot

A pickup was seen leaving the parking lot on North Cherokee Avenue, police said

A man was found stabbed to death Wednesday in a Hollywood parking lot.

The body found at about 9 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Cherokee Avenue was identified only as that of a man in his late 20s. The location is about three blocks east of Highland Avenue near several restaurants, including Musso & Frank Grill.

"I walked past here and I saw the man laying on the ground, blood all over the place," witness Melanie Green said. "They were getting towels, pumping his body and trying to save him."

It was not immediately clear whether the attackers and victim knew each other, police said.

"There was a dispute between these two individuals. It escalated into a stabbing," LAPD Lt. John Jenal said. "I don't know if this was a street confrontation or they just met each other in the parking lot, of it they have a relationship."

At least three people are sought in connection with the stabbing, police said.

"There might be other people that are witnesses or are associated with the suspect, but the detectives assure me right now that they are looking at a suspect involved in the homicide, based on witness statements and based on other evidence they've gathered," Jenal said.

A vehicle seen leaving the crime scene was described as a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup with North Carolina license plates. The license plate identification number was CLJ5472.

Signs posted on nearby streets indicate there are security cameras in the area.
