‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi': Join Famed Queue

Always wanted to try out the LiningUp.net line in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre to help raise money for a great cause? Here's your chance.

A jedi is, of course, a most noble individual, one who easily commits to a larger and positive purpose with a clarity of mind and spirit.

And the jedi who will be in line on Hollywood Boulevard ahead of the Friday, Dec. 15 opening of "The Last Jedi" at the TCL Chinese Theatre? They, too, will possess such purpose, clarity, commitment, and a dedication to a worthy cause.

We speak, of course, of LiningUp.net, the beneficent fan organization that meets in front of the Hollywood landmark several days ahead of the debut of a new "Star Wars" film.

Seeing the film first? That's a huge part of why people line up, but there's so much more to this oh-so-local phenomenon.

The liner-uppers look like they're having the best time in the galaxy, with lively light saber battles and interesting costumes catching the eyes of passersby, but, like most excellent jedi, they've got a more important mission at heart: Raise money for The Starlight Children's Foundation, an organization that "...creates moments of joy and comfort for hospitalized kids and their families."

Tickets will available beginning on the evening of Monday, Oct. 9 for the special Thursday, Dec. 14 fan screening for those in the LiningUp.net queue.

The new trailer for the film debuted on Oct. 9 during "Monday Night Football."

If you're keen to join the famous queue, you can, but listen, you should, as a certain powerful jedi introduced in "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back" might say.

To join the LiningUp.net queue, you'll need to commit to logging at least six hours in line. As a good-of-heart jedi, we know you can offer that much, or more, to such a fine foundation like Starlight.

Included in your LiningUp.net ticket purchase price are several components, like "an exclusive Star Wars item," your Starlight donation, a gift bag, and more.

Read all now, you should.

And getting to see the most anticipated 2017 film in this sector of the Milky Way a few hours early at the very cinema where "Episode IV: A New Hope" premiered in May 1977? With hundreds of other super-into-it super-fans?

A thrill, just like it is a thrill to wear your amazing Darth Vader get-up while waving at delighted drivers tooling down Hollywood Boulevard from your spot in the queue.

Perhaps "waving" isn't exactly right, but rather "holding your hand out like you've got the whole galaxy sitting in your palm," in that special way only Darth Vader can do.

The line opens on Dec. 7, 2017, at 7 in the evening. So wrap up your holiday shopping early, and other December must-dos, so you can don your favorite Bantha outfit, step into the queue for several hours, and meet some cool new pals.

And, best of all, help out The Starlight Children's Foundation.

Details? Let the glow from your light saber lead you here.
