Stolen Car Pursuit Ends in Crash and Arrests in Sylmar

A police pursuit of a suspected stolen car ended Tuesday in a crash in Sylmar and four people were arrested, police said.

The pursuit began at 12:50 p.m. on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway near Golden Valley Road in Santa Clarita, where a California Highway Patrol officer spotted a stolen four-door white 2014 Dodge Charger and tried to pull it over.

The driver, however, sped away, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.

The driver of the Charger transitioned onto the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway, at times topping 100 mph and weaving through traffic, then drove onto residential streets before slamming into another car at Hubbard Street and Herrick Avenue.

Some of the people involved tried to flee into a nearby park, but were quickly apprehended.

Two males and two females were all taken to a hospital to be examined.

Kimball said the car had been taken from a car-rental agency at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank.
