A sport utility vehicle and a Corvette were involved in a fiery crash early Monday that police said might have been the result of a street race.

The crash occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Washington Boulevard near Soto Street. Both vehicles were on fire when authorities arrived at the location.

One of the vehicles was reported stolen.

Witnesses told investigators they saw several vehicles racing in the area. The drivers of the SUV and Corvette left the location before officers arrived, police said.
