Dad Who Left Baby in Car While He Went to Strip Club Pleads No Contest

The baby was crying and sweating when she was found in the car by employees from the club and a neighboring business

A Van Nuys man pleaded no contest Wednesday to a felony count of child abuse for leaving his 9-month-old daughter inside a car in Panorama City while he went into a strip club.

Auwin Dargin, 26, was immediately sentenced to 10 days in jail, 52 weeks of parenting classes, 45 days of Caltrans service and five years probation.

Dargin left his daughter in his car for 43 minutes while visiting a strip club on the afternoon of March 9, 2016. The baby was crying and sweating when she was found in the car by employees from the club and a neighboring business, according to Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer.

The good Samaritans rescued the girl and confronted Dargin as he stepped outside of the club, the prosecutor said.

Jurors deadlocked in March on the charge against him.
