Attorneys for the Survivor producer accused of killing his wife in Mexico outline their strategy to fight extradition claiming he was wrongly accused. Evidence does not match the crime.
Attorneys for former "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford Redman announced Tuesday they plan to fight his extradition to Mexico to face charges in the murder of his wife Monica more than a year ago in Cancun.
The defense attorneys held a news conference where they claimed there is no physical evidence linking Beresford Redman to the murder.
His wife's body was found in April 2010 in a sewage cistern at the Cancun resort where the couple was vacationing with their two children.
The attorneys said the facts were being misrepresented by authorities in Cancun who arrested Beresford Redman for the crime.
The attorneys implied Beresford Redman is an unwitting pawn in a high stakes game being played by a corrupt Mexican regime incapable of properly investigating the case.
They alleged there have been a number of violent incidents at the resort hotel where the Beresford Redmans were staying. Why would authorities pin the crime on Beresford Redman?
"Well, they're pinning it on everyone," attorney Richard Hirsch said.
He added that he believes the authorities in Cancun are trying to protect the tourist industry by not focusing on a local person, such as a hotel worker.
