Police are seeking a man who broke into a home and attacked an 85-year-old woman Friday afternoon in Norwalk.
The woman, 81, confronted a man who tried to break into her house in the 11500 block of Mapledale Street, officials said. The woman's son said the attack happened around 1:45 p.m. A neighbor said he heard a loud noise around that time.
The suspect punched the woman in the face, officials said. Los Angeles County firefighters responded to a report of a person bleeding at 2:10 p.m.
The woman's other son was also in the house and found the woman on the floor conscious and breathing.
She was taken to a hospital for examination. The son said she was expected to survive.
There was not immediate word on a description about the robber and it was unknown what, if anything, was taken, officials said.
