TEMECULA, Calif. -- Three San Diego men have been identified as suspects in the Friday stabbing death of a Murrieta man and the critical wounding of another.
Authorities said Ryan Joshua Armstrong was stabbed to death 10:20 p.m. Friday outside ET Sports Lounge in Temecula. Armstrong suffered multiple stab wounds and died at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
The 22-year-old was the son of the Rev. Ron Armstrong, founding and senior pastor at Wildomar's Cornerstone Community Church, which has about 5,000 active members. A viewing was held at the church Wednesday.
The other man, a 23-year-old, was still listed in critical condition Wednesday, according to sheriff's homicide Detective Dean Spivacke.
Two of the suspects have been arrested: Marvin Black, 25, and James Fung, 29.
Black is in custody at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta and Fung is currently in custody in San Diego County Jail in Vista.
A third man, identified only as "Matty" remained at large. He was described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build, short dark hair and a tattoo of the name "Anita" on his left ring finger.
According to witness accounts, the fight began as an argument inside the bar, and then "Matty" started brawling with Armstrong, Spivacke said.
The fight moved outside to an alley before the two men separated, Spivacke said.
"Matty" left the alley and then returned a few minutes later in his truck with Black and Fung, he said. They drove up, got out and began fighting again with Armstrong and two other men, Spivacke said.
"During the fight, it appears as though 'Matty' stabbed Ryan to death," Spivacke said.
The name of the other hospitalized victim will not be released, the sergeant said.
The detective said that neither of the groups involved appeared to be gang members.
"There's no indication that these people knew each other," Spivacke said.
