Sweet Matchmaking: NKLA Adoption Weekend

Over 1,000 furry friends, needing homes, are headed for the tar pits.

Straight off the top? NKLA has mission so serious that it is in its very name: Turn LA into a no-kill city for shelter animals.

No-Kill Los Angeles keeps this important goal in mind via fundraisers, mondo events (remember when Internet superstar Lentil Bean visited the new westside facility at the start of September?), and community happenings. Oh yes, and those oh-so-essential adoption fairs, too. Make that huge adoption fairs as well, to the tune of 1000+ animals gathered in one place.

NKLA thinks big, indeed.

And while many cats and pups'll assuredly be meowing and yipping their wee hearts out on Saturday, Nov. 9 and Sunday, Nov. 10, they won't be at the La Brea Tar Pits to simply enjoy an autumn day in a pretty park. They're there to get adopted, period.

NKLA is making it way, way easy, too. The adoption fees'll start at $25, and that includes shots, microchipping, and, yep, your new pet's spay or neuter. Pack a little more cash than that, though, because food trucks and petly vendors'll dot the grounds of Hancock Park.

Yep, NKLA has a serious mission, as stated, but it is also devoted to creating a beastly bash that is convivial of heart. Adoption weekends tug at the heart but they can be lively gatherings, too.

Also know that the animals up for adoption will range in age, so you'll see itsy puppies and kittens in addition to seniors. Awww, those sweet, white-whiskery mugs. You'll probably kiss one or four, we're betting.
