Man Allegedly Runs Over Ex-Girlfriend's Mother “Numerous Times,” Police Say

Authorities say the man beat his former girlfriend with a metal object before running over her mother with the woman's van.

A 62-year-old woman was killed Tuesday allegedly by her daughter’s ex-boyfriend who is also suspected of attacking the victim’s daughter as the pair tried to get him away from their home, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, appeared to be under the influence when he returned to his ex-girlfriend’s Sylmar home after the pair had broken up, said Lt. Kamran Khan of the Los Angeles Police Department Mission Station.

The victim and her daughter tried to drive the man home about 4 p.m. During the journey, he was able to take over the van which he then crashed into a property in the 13700 block of Borden Avenue, Khan said.

When the women escaped the van, the man allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend with a metal object and ran over her mother "numerous times," Khan said.

The 62-year-old grandmother died after the attack, and the victim’s daughter underwent surgery. Her condition was not known late Tuesday.

Police took the man into custody as he was walking around the neighborhood, Khan said.

The man and his ex-girlfriend -- reportedly in their late 20s -- have children together, Khan said.
