August 2004: Garcia kidnaps the girl, taking her to a home in Compton and holds her against her will, according to police.

Aug. 3-5, 2004: Mother files a missing persons report.

2007: Garcia and the victim are married, using false documents created by Garcia, according to police.

Oct. 27, 2010: Victim gives birth to their daughter.

April 2014: Victim contacts sister on Facebook to wish her happy birthday; meets with her mother soon after.

May 21, 2014: Nanny describes alleged kidnapper, his victim, their daughter as "perfect couple."

May 22, 2014: Isidro Garcia is charged with rape, kidnapping and other counts. His attorney denies the allegations, saying they were made up by his wife amid a breakup.

May 22, 2014: Isidro Garcia, aka Tomas Medrano, was suspended from his part-time job at Environment Control, a janitorial service, pending the outcome of the police investigation. In a statement, his employer said, "We are very concerned by the recent news reports."

April 24, 2015: An Orange County judge orders Isidro Garcia to trial.

Feb. 11, 2016: Opening statements begin in the trial of Garcia.
