A celebratory bus ride to prom turned frightening when a 17-year-old high school student fell out of a window and onto an Orange County freeway Saturday.

More than 50 Corona Del Mar High School students were on a private charter bus heading toward prom in Mission Viejo when Charlotte Boyse fell out of the bus and onto the 73 Freeway, according to the Orange County California Highway Patrol.

Boyse was able to quickly crawl or run to the center divider as the bus pulled over, officials said. She was taken to Mission Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

The other students were all accounted for, officials said.

Boyse tweeted about her accident later that night.

There is an angel looking over me, thanking god to be alive. Thank you all for your concern,” she wrote.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the accident.
