Police are looking for an unknown gunman who shot and killed a 21-year-old man in Harbor City Thursday.
Neighbors heard gunshots in the neighborhood just after 6 p.m. near 253rd Street and Normandie Avenue, and the teen was later found dead in an alley.
Investigators initially believed the man was a teen, but later confirmed his age as 21.
Witnesses told NBC4 they heard the gunshots, but believed them to be fireworks because of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
He had multiple gunshot wounds.
Neighbors described the man as a nice person, and his mother and young child were seen leaving the scene of the shooting visibly distraught Thursday evening.
No motive for the shooting has yet been determined, but it is not believed to be gang related, according to LAPD.
