Authorities were investigating the death of a teenage girl who was hit by an SUV late Monday in Palmdale.
It happened just before 10 p.m. Monday on 30th Street East south of Palmdale Boulevard, according to the watch commander at the Los Angeles County sheriff's Palmdale Station.
She would not disclose the age or gender of the victim, but a 16-year-old boy told a news photographer at the scene that he was crossing the street with a girl, also 16, when she was struck.
The vehicle that hit the girl was a small SUV that stopped at the scene, the photographer said.
The watch commander said it appeared to be an accident.
The teens were not in a crosswalk when they were struck, a deputy at the scene told the photographer.
