Teen Killed Retrieving Skateboard From Road in OC

The 16-year-old and some friends where riding their boards on Trabucco Road in Lake Forest on the sidewalk before the accident at 6:20 p.m.

A teenager was killed after being hit by a car while retrieving his skateboard from a road in Orange County Monday.

Sixteen-year-old David Valerio, of Mission Viejo, and some friends where riding their boards on Trabucco Road in Lake Forest on the sidewalk before the accident at 6:20 p.m.

One of the skateboards ended up in a traffic lane, and when the teen went to retrieve it he was knocked down by an Acura SUV, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

He was transported to Mission Regional Medical Center, but was later pronounced dead by medical staff.

The driver remained at the scene, and they did not appear to be impaired by either alcohol or drugs, sheriff's deputies said.
